Rams Performance Recorded

Wairere King Romney sires are all Sheep Improvement Ltd (SIL) recorded and all of our 2th rams for sale are performance recorded.

I don’t believe you can put a price on the confidence that Wairere King ram buyers have, knowing that all our Romney rams have been objectively measured and analysed by independent professionals. Our ram buyers have the comfort of knowing they are buying Romney rams in the top 15% of all Wairere King rams eye muscle scanned, with proven pedigree and progeny. Further the data collected is an amazing tool, and is vital in assisting us in making genuine measurable improvements in our Wairere King flock. That ability to identify genetic potential through these records, enables us to constantly improve the quality of our Romney rams year on year and produce lean muscular, fertile, heavy wooled sheep.

Having said that I don’t believe that statistical data alone can be the measure of your flock. I believe you still need to be hands on, and to visually confirm what the data is telling you, you still need to be doing the basics well. I feel the next big breakthrough will come when cross flock comparisons can be accurately made. At the moment this is almost impossible, due to the fact that we all farm in different ways on different terrain in different conditions. It is for this same reason that I don’t believe you can buy rams, “the foundation stone” of your farm, on the internet. That’s why I don’t have rams for sale on this website.

I recommend that any interested parties give me a call and come down and see me. All of the statistical data will be here for you to look over. This way you can see what you’re investing in, judge its quality for yourself, and who knows maybe we can sit down and work out some strategies for further enhancing the results you get from your Wairere King rams.
